Woman & Child, from the magic lantern slides of William Henry Jackson, www.harappa.com, premission requestedThe end of suffering is Tara's dominion. She is Rescuer, a ceaseless worker on our behalf. Buddhist practice asks us to meditate on images of Her, to contemplate and act on compassion, to speak Her name in ceaseless prayer. When I come to the place where I can see no way out, when it is time to accept the things I cannot change, I take refuge in Tara.

"Alas I do not know either the mystical word or the mystical diagram, nor do I know the songs of praise to thee...nor how to inform thee of my distress. But this much I know, O Mother, that to take refuge in thee is to destroy all my miseries." (Galland)
