Green Tara is traditionally
seen as playful virgin and White Tara as wise, mature and voluptuous
woman. There are several fierce/wrathful manifestations of Tara as guardian/protector
and as destroyer. In the West, we tend to equate these energies with
"crone" though that is a naive and culturally ageist tendency.
The Tara of Tibetan Buddhism embodies the motherly energy of protection;
She is concerned not with creating life, but with sustaining and protecting
it.
