All the sets of
21 Taras, mentioned
previously, are based on an 11th century text, of which there are
quite a few translations. See Sherab
and Amitabha
("The Practice of Tara" link). A full version of the Praises
and Requests to the 21 Taras can be found at the Osel
Shen Phen Ling site and in Alan
Clewley's pages. A particularly thorough explanation of the Praises
is on Lam
Rim Bristol's Tara Puja page. Jassmine's
Tara page has a simplified list of the 21 Taras and a good bibliography.
An excellent reference is the Maitreya
Project.
2. Homage to you, Tara, whose face is like
One hundred full autumn moons gathered together,
Blazing with the expanding light
Of a thousand constellations.
