Cycle III Activities Be able to articulate or demonstrate your own cosmology / thealogy.

Here's an articulation of major elements of my cosmology / thealogy, published in the Imbolc 2000 Issue ("Polarity and Balance") of PagaNet News: Whatever Floats Your Boat: A Dianic Perspective on Polarity, Balance, and Gender.

Cycle II Activities Develop a working cosmology / thealogy.

Scientific cosmologies address many of the questions addressed by spiritual cosmologies (see Cycle I Activities, below). They are addressed, however, in terms of the origin and nature of the universe ("here") and the nature of time ("now"). My working cosmology includes

  • elements of spiritual cosmologies (see below)
  • elements of scientific cosmologies, especially:
  • concepts articulated by Joanna Macy in World as Lover, World as Self, an article published in her book by the same name (see the Internet article by the same name; especially the first paragraph)
  • personal elements

Cycle I Activities Define for yourself the elements of a working cosmology / thealogy.

Most spiritual cosmologies explore these basic questions:

  • Where did I come from? Why am I here? And why now?
  • What am I supposed to be doing while I'm here?
  • Is there life after death? If so, what is that life about, and how does my life now relate to my life then?
  • Is there a higher power/deity? If deity exists, what is its nature? What is my relationship to it?
  • More complex spiritual cosmologies also address "the nature of reality" (i.e., what are "here" and "now").
